1. Eat The Right Amount Of Protein
Protein is extremely important. Protein has very little insulin spiking glucose (carbs turn to sugar in your body – you need some, but if all you’re eating are carbs – carbs include fruit and veggies too ) then no wonder why you are not losing weight and stubborn belly fat.
When it comes to weight loss most people have focused on the number on the scale instead of what their body looks like. It’s great to see the number on the scale going down, but if you still look the same, then what are you really doing? If you don’t see inches lost, then you are losing valuable muscle. Muscle is thinner and heavier than, fluffy, puffy, rolling over your pants type of fat weight.
How Much Protein Do You Need?
The best place to start with knowing how much protein you need is to divide your current body weight by 2 and use this number as a starting point. For example, a woman weighing 170 will divide this number by 2.2 then multiply that number by 1.5. (170 divided by 2.2 = 77.2 x 1.5 =115). Getting 115 grams of protein in your diet daily will help you keep whatever muscle weight you do have or you’ll gain some if you’ve lost a lot through yo-yo dieting. It seems like a lot of protein, but having a couple of 30-gram protein shakes and a light meal with protein and you’re staying within a good calorie range while keeping your metabolism high. Vegan or vegetarian, you can still get in the protein. You can use plant-based proteins and substitute animal protein for high protein plant sources.
2. Do Strength Training Workouts
Workouts like HIIT, yoga, Pilates, all work great at keeping your muscle strong while creating lean, long lines. It can help firm and tone your body. Don’t just focus on tons of cardio. Do a variety of workouts so you can shape your body while losing belly fat.
