Gut Health And Skin
7 Signs Your Gut Heath Is Wacko & How To Correct It For Flawless Skin
Hi Victoria!
I’m such a fan of yours and I’ve used your skin care product when they first came out 3 years ago! I have adult acne and your Clarifying Series is AMAZING! It has cleared up my skin drastically! I’m so grateful for your products and for my new skin. The only thing left from the acne is I still have occasional flareups! My doctor says it could be contributed to my diet. She says gut health and skin have a lot in common. Is this true and how do I stop the flareups?
Thankful and grateful,
Jolene
Hi Jolene!
I’m so happy the clarifying series has helped you get rid of your acne! I am totally dancing around the room in happiness for you! Yes, occasional flareups happen for a reason. I’ll share with you some of the causes.
Bloating and Digestive Issues
We all experience bloating and gas after eating certain foods. But, if it is a constant problem then you may have an imbalance of good and bad gut bacteria. Your intestines thrive on a balance of both good and bad. If you have too much of either, you could suffer from gas, bloating, diarrhea, or conception.
You Crave Sugar
Bad bacteria LOVES sugar. Bad bacteria are real live organisms. They will make your body release hunger hormones like leptin and ghrelin. These hormones are a type of protein and the more you eat sugary foods the more the bacteria secrets these sugar craving proteins. It is a cycle of endless struggle!
Food Allergies or Intolerances
Often times we know what foods we are allergic to, but we may not know know certain intolerances such as gluten or dairy. Dairy intolerance may show up as acne, rashes, gas and painful bloating. Gluten intolerance can show up as slowed weight loss, bloating, fatigue, and other symptoms.
Moodiness, Anxiety, Fatigue and Depression
Serotonin and Dopamine are produced in the gut. When you are eating improperly, yur body can’t make sufficient amounts resulting in depression and anxiety. People rush to get medication for depression or anxiety. This may be necessary, but that’s why nutrition is very important. If your gut health is healthy, you lessen the need for medications.
You Have An Autoimmune Disease
Autoimmune disease is a condition where your body fights against you resulting in destruction of vital organ tissue. Some autoimmune diseases include thyroid conditions, Lupus, type 1 diabetes, Graves’ disease, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, celiac disease, and more. Research has shown that a compromised gut system and intestinal barrier depletion is the cause. This mean the intestines are not able to adequately absorb nutrients from the foods you eat. A routine blood test will detect if you may have an autoimmune disease.
You Have Diabetes – Type 1 or Type 2
Type 1 diabetes is when your pancreas no longer produces insulin therefore you have to inject insulin before meals. Insulin helps your body use glucose for energy. Type 2 diabetes is when you pancreas works, but doesn’t produce enough insulin to convert glucose to energy and your body’s cells are not responsive to glucose resulting in more sugar in your blood system. Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes can be linked to gut health. A study was conducted including 20 type 2 diabetics and 48 healthy participants and 24 pre-diabetic subjects. Scientists were able to link glucose intolerance to three type of microbes three types of microbiota: Blautia, Serratia and Akkermansia bacteria. All three of these microbiota are found in healthy people but are more the pre-diabetes and diabetes group. These microbiota cause toxins that can cause inflammation throughout the body.
You Have Skin Issues
Skin problem like acne, rashes, psoriasis, and eczema are known to have irregular gut health. As you improve your nutrition, these conditions will decrease. That’s why it is important to eat lots of leafy green veggies, healthy low sugar fruits like apples, pears, peaches, apricots, and berries. It’s also very important that you work on improving your gut health. A nutritious diet is the first line of defense. The second is by getting effective probiotics in your system.
